Origin: Clary Sage was first used in the Middle Ages when this herb was considered to be a cure-all. It was used for digestive disorders and kidney complaints, as well as uterine and menstrual conditions. Medieval authors called the herb ‘Clear Eye’ and attributed to it the property of healing all kinds of eye disorders.
Source: Originally a native of southern Europe, Clary Sage is now grown in the USA, Britain, Morocco and central Europe, as well as being widely cultivated in the Mediterranean region.
Skin Care: Clary Sage aromatherapy essential oil is considered useful for treating acne, boils, dandruff, hair loss, inflammation, oily skin and hair, ophthalmia, ulcers and wrinkles. Clary Sage aromatherapy essential oil is said to help to reduce the excessive production of sebum; for people with dandruff and greasy hair, a final rinse with clary sage, can help to combat this problem.
Circulation muscles and joints: A dilution of Clary Sage aromatherapy essential oil, possibly mixed with Melissa, Rose and Petitgrain aromatherapy essential oils, can be massaged onto the skin to help relieve muscular aches and pains. A few drops of Clary Sage aromatherapy essential oil in a warm bath will have a similar effect, easing stress and tension.
